HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH
JUNE 8, 2008                                 10TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

My Dear Parishioners,

I am very happy to tell you that Joan Knox was given the Lumen Gentium (“Light of the World”) award this last Wednesday by Bishop Aymond. This is a diocesan award that honors outstanding service and ministry to the Church.

I can’t think of anyone who deserves this award more than Joan. She is an active long time member of Holy Family as a faithful extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, Greeter, and volunteer to clean altar linens. She enthusiastically prays at the daily Eucharistic Adoration, often taking several holy hours during the middle of the night. She is a dedicated member of the “Helping Hands” ministry, giving her time to the homebound in need of help with transportation, buying and cooking food, and other daily activities. In all of these works she is humble and joyful, radiating a true Gospel spirit. Please offer her congratulations and a few words of thanks for what she has done in a most loving and dedicated way over the years.

Your brother in Christ,

Father Jim

FATHER PETE LOGSDON, C.S.C. will be here Saturday and Sunday, June 21/22. As many of you know, Father Pete is the pastor at a Holy Cross Mission in Mexico and has made mission appeals here for many, many years. He will be at all the Masses and will make an appeal for your prayers and financial help for his missionary work. Our response to his appeals has always been very, very, generous. We have managed to write a check for over $10,000 in years past. It’s our hope we can match this again in 2008.
